A new Friday night tradition here at Braindead Shithead, I will present an educational video in the hopes of laying some knowledge on your ignorant asses.
Up first, the delightful Conjunction Junction from the Schoolhouse Rock series. This is a non-commercial site, so I have nothing to profit, but here is more information about the Schoolhouse Rock DVD.
Man, the people involved with Schoolhouse Rock were all so unbelivably cool. Bob Dorough, Dave Frishberg, Blossom Dearie, Lynn Ahrens, and on this tune, the big guy himself, Jack Sheldon. What a blast it must have been working on this project.
ReplyDeleteWatching this DVD, seeing SR pieces I hadn't seen in over 20 years, I could still sing along with a lot of them! That is the true measure of art, IMO--it works its way into your brain, even if you aren't aware of it.
ReplyDeleteYeah, that's right, I called Schoolhouse Rock art, dammit!
I agree with you. It's art, and it's very subversive art. ABC thought they were getting a cheap way out of the (now virtually nonexistent) educational and community service requirements. Instead, what they got was something that was not only educational, but a subversive introduction (despite the Schoolhouse Rock title) to jazz. How cool is that?
