The Mix v24.0

This Mix offers a veritable cornucopia of contraband and heavyweight alt rockers!

Old favorites like My Chemical Romance, Deftones, Sparklehorse, The Shins, and Trail Of Dead are framed by lesser-known acts like De Rosa, Metropol, and Kate Havnevik.

I'm a little late with the Robin Guthrie, which is a shame. Good stuff. I also added a little bonus aggro by ESA just because I like it so much.

The final track is a gleefully offensive song by Baby Huey & The Baby Sitters. You'll also note the intro by one Rudy Ray Moore, courtesy of The Human Tornado. Even if it got me banned from YouTube, I still love it!

Lots of extra stuff in the Rapidshare link, as well.

Mix time: 48 minutes
Rapidshare Link (will post when RS starts working again!)

Here today, gone tomorrow

Forgive me a brief moment of seriousness. Today Gootube removed all of the Comedy Central content which also included a ton of Daily Show excerpts. This after Ben Karlin, exec. producer for The Daily Show encouraged people to share and download The Daily show in a September 2005 interview. OK, Comedy Central owns The Daily Show and they need to vigorously defend their copyright or risk losing it to the public domain. I get that. I can't help but feel that Comedy Central and Gootube both devalued theirselves in doing this act. In fact, the phrase, "shooting yourself in the foot" comes to mind. Part of the amazing success of The Daily Show in the past few years has been easy access to clips on YouTube which have only furthered demand for the show. Morons. Via Slashdot.

All right, now don't everybody click at once

It's here! It's finally here!
Oh, thank the AOL gods!

Now, we can ALL listen to the ENTIRETY of Kevin Federline's debut album!

I know, I know you are all UBER excited about this. Not only can you listen to the whole thing, but you can do it for free.

Hooray!

Uh...

yeah, it's hard to decide titles between the "WTF?" that first came to mind, and "Dear sweet babbling baby jebus!".

Because man, this story has it all!

I could just give you the facts, but it's more fun when I set it up.

So, apparently a daycare worker called the city, to tell them that there was a dead dog that had been hit several days before still laying nearby. (That's nothing, at Walsh there was one that lay in the ditch over the winter. Was there before the snow. Was there after the snow. My dad paid $5000 a year for me to see that.)

But, before the workers could get there? A man showed up and started "performing sex acts" with the dog.
That's right.
Beastiality AND necrophilia!
(insert rimshot)
The animal control officer showed up, and got treated to the sight of it as well. The man shoved the animal control officer away, and ran off.

He was found hiding in the attic of a nearby house, which reportedly was owned by his girlfriend. Even better? The dog was his girlfriend's as well.

Now, throughout all of this, my first question has to be "Was he getting it on with the dog BEFORE it got hit by a car? Was he thinking "Just this one last time, I'll say goodbye to Shadow in my own way"? Or, was it one of those "Man, I've always thought that bitch had a hot ass, now's my chance!"
Or, perhaps he was really fucking drunk. I think his best bet is to hope that he has some insane tox screen.

Here's the article, brought to all of us via Fark. Man, I love Fark.

Let's hope these pumpkins don't evolve

Evil Mad Scientist Labs has instructions on how to carve your very own Cylon'o'lantern for Halloween. Very cool!

Halloween Mix v1.0

With Halloween right around the corner, I thought I'd post a few special Mixes to celebrate the occasion.

First up is Orson Welles' 1938 radio broadcast of H.G. Wells' "War of the Worlds". This is the complete broadcast, split into 3 parts. The total running time is just over 57 minutes, but this is history we're talking about. Take a little time to relive the hysteria!

Sometimes Bolt has trouble with longer files. Try pausing the file and letting the stream load completely before pushing 'play' again. That usually works.

Thanks to Mostly Ghostly Music Sharing Blaaahhhggg!!! for the heads up.

War of the Worlds Part I Bolt.

War of the Worlds Part II Bolt.

War of the Worlds Part III Bolt.

Herb Tarlek is my hero

Imagine you head on down to the arcade one fine day in 1980 to play some Space Invaders. Along the way you turn on your pocket transistor radio hoping to hear your favorite disco tune, but what you hear instead is a strange radio broadcast from the future... from the year 2076. And you learn how direct marketing saved the universe!

Apparently this is the first side of a promotional album for the defunct Tomorrow Media who, gaging by the content of this album, are single-handedly responsible for turning FM radio into the cesspool it is today. Found via The Lost Turntable (who doesn't know what to make of this either).

The future is today at Bolt -- and it's groovin' my fellow babies!.

Two Chinese Boys X Three

2 newer videos by our favorite guys in the People's Republic and apparently a television appearance. That's right, their stardom has shone too brightly just for little Gootube and they're making freaking television appearances now. Remember that the next time you complain about the quality of network TV in the U.S.
