WALL OF TREK!!!

Okay, all of these videos are pretty old, and some are better produced than others, but I still get a kick out of them.

When you're finished watching the vids, be sure to check out Cpt. Picard's blog. Some good stuff there.

Celebrity Kid's Books

Holy shit this is funny.

Okay, so I'm rambling through the blogosphere, and discover THIS little beauty.

Dutch is getting all cranky about how every celebrity who has a kid suddenly has to have a kid's books, and that musicians get it doubly light, because they just have to illustrate one of their songs.

So, Dutch decides it must be because the book publishers are using crap songs.
So, decides to do one of his own.
With the Beastie Boys.

And, holy crap, there's STYX, too.

Go HERE to see the flicker pages for both "A Horse Named Paul Revere" and "Come Sail Away With Me."

This appears to be turning into a monthly event, you can nominate which songs you think should be made into books.
I think I'm going to vote for "Hoochie Mama", as a cautionary tale to young men.

Pirate Babys Cabana Battle Street Fight 2006

I think it's time we invite PZ Myers to start blogging here at Braindead Shithead. Let's face it, his love of fine squid and contempt for christo-fascist nutcases shows he's solid Shithead material, and this isn't the only time I've stolen something PZ has posted for BS. Yes, you can thank Pharyngula for intestinal worm guy. However today's post just seals the deal for me.

Education Friday: 11

"The Good Eleven" from Multiplication Rock. Next week marks the end of MR. I can continue Schoolhouse Rock, or I can let it die a quiet death. Which one would you prefer. I won't be offended if you choose the death option. What do you think?

Werewolves for Jesus

What happens if you combine real live werewolves (hypertrichosis), LSD, and Mexican evangelical Christianity? Apparently something that looks a whole lot like this. And if this isn't enough for you, there's 7 more videos just like this one here.

In the world of illusion

Everyone can be Doug Henning!

Here is a page with a few cool optical and audio illusions.

Elephant poop

Consistent with the "Shithead" portion of "Braindead Shithead", here is a clip of an elephant shitting on some stupid tourists. The video isn't that great, but it's a great example of the most vapid voiceover commentary you will ever hear.

Looks like somebody's wish is coming true.

A big thanks to fellow BSer Montag for sending me this little gem...

"Katie Holmes is reportedly exhausted and "constantly in tears" since giving birth to daughter Suri - sparking speculation she could have the baby blues.

According to Britain's The Sun newspaper, friends say the actress breaks down and cries and seems "emotional and very tired" since she and fiance Tom Cruise welcomed their baby girl last month.

She has also been spotted looking red-eyed at the plush Beverly Hills mansion she shares with the 'Mission: Impossible III' actor, who last year slammed Brooke Shields for admitting taking anti-depressants for post-natal depression.

One friend is quoted in Britain's The Sun newspaper as saying: "Katie told pals it's natural for new mums to experience strong emotions."

Meanwhile, Katie isn't wasting time getting back into shape - she has already signed up for a fitness programme so she's back to her pre-baby weight on her wedding day."

Far be it from me, poster child for Post-Partum Depression never going away, to insinuate anything here, but Jesus, I'm guessing that perhaps not working, having a new baby, having to follow your man to just about everything he does-whether it's down the street or on another continent-AND start working out right after having said man's baby might be a little overwhelming for poor child-bearing-woman Kate.
And, when she's not with said man, she's basically captured at home. I don't care how big or nice your home is, eventually it gets to feel like a prison.

This is what I found on Women's Health, to describe the differences between "baby blues", and "postpartum depression".

"The baby blues can happen in the days right after childbirth and normally go away within a few days to a week. A new mother can have sudden mood swings, sadness, crying spells, loss of appetite, sleeping problems, and feel irritable, restless, anxious, and lonely. Symptoms are not severe and treatment isn’t needed. But there are things you can do to feel better. Nap when the baby does. Ask for help from your spouse, family members, and friends. Join a support group of new moms or talk with other moms.

Postpartum depression can happen anytime within the first year after childbirth. A woman may have a number of symptoms such as sadness, lack of energy, trouble concentrating, anxiety, and feelings of guilt and worthlessness. The difference between postpartum depression and the baby blues is that postpartum depression often affects a woman’s well-being and keeps her from functioning well for a longer period of time. Postpartum depression needs to be treated by a doctor. Counseling, support groups, and medicines are things that can help."

So, it's hard to say.
Basically, the big determiner will be time.
Though, the irony would be sweet. SWEET.

JR, better start stocking up on those emergency supplies!

Holy shit this is funny.

God has told Pat Robertson that we're going to get (wait for it) STORMS! On AMERICA'S COASTLINE!!!

I know, we can file THAT under "O For Obvious".

But it gets better.
He's predicted a "POSSIBLE" tsunami.
No, not in Florida.

IN THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST!

"Robertson said the revelations about this year's weather came to him during his annual personal prayer retreat in January."

"If I heard the Lord right about 2006, the coasts of America will be lashed by storms," Robertson said May 8. On Wednesday, he added, "There well may be something as bad as a tsunami in the Pacific Northwest."

Oh god. So, when we have that tsunami, he will dance upon our graves. If we don't have a tsunami, he'll say it was the power of prayer that saved our worthless, Blue-State, heathen asses.

This one, it was just too good to pass up.

The Vader of the Opera

It's Darth Vader, the Musical.
A little better produced than most on here, though poor Wui-Ming does struggle a little bit, especially on the non-falsetto high notes.

I especially like the last frame. "Please don't sue me!"

Snakes on a Plane

For whatever reason, people have really taken to this damn "Snakes on a Plane" movie.
Besides being one of the most uninspired titles to come along in...okay, like fifteen minutes, but seriously...it just seems preternaturally stupid. Oo, snakes on a plane.
Quick, somebody get me Samuel L. Jackson!

HERE is the IMDb page for the actual movie.

But HERE you will find some quite amusing little gif animations of potential SoaP scenarios, as well as how to do it in sign language. Really, quite helpful, though one DOES need a prop for the second explanation.

And, to help us cope with all the really fucking stupid "Snakes On A Plane" references, is a handy listing of links to snakes on other things. A particular favorite? Snakes on Romaine. Check it out HERE

How to Handle Yourself

This is funny. And practical!

Oh. My god.

Seriously, this is too funny. Especially the beginning, where Fatboy is sitting there looking unutterably bored by the crazy cat lady next to him.
I mean it. She's CRAAAAAAAZY.

God Hates America

Yes, the good Rev. Phelps and his merry gang of hate mongers at the Westboro Baptist Church are at it again! Here's a new video which defies description. YouTube has several other vids from this gang, but I didn't have the strength to watch them.

Call the anti-choice people because this is an abortion!

Holy mother of christ, this is awful! Kelly Clarkson/Led Zeppelin mash-up to "The Immigrant Song". You've been warned!

Anyone for A Caption Contest?

Mine is less a caption than a soliloquy [sic] and leaves something to be desired. Have at it, Shitheads:
Laura Bush
Sir, you have something... It's just under your lip... No, no, to the right... Your right, sir... Eww, no. That's not going to work... You're gonna need a napkin... [sigh]... Do you want me to do it? ... ... There you go...

Hmm... Hey, you gonna eat this? ...

The worst beach in the world

In the Caribbean island of St. Maarten. Just watch the video and you'll see why.

How did I live so long without this?

The Fart Dictionary

Limp Ninja Time!

Okay, this came to me via YouTube, but I've watched like 3 different vids these guys have done, and about pissed myself laughing at each one.
And I don't generally laugh out loud at stuff, especially by myself.

But you can see all their stuff here.

Sometimes, you just ask yourself why...

and there's never really a good answer, but you still ask.

This is almost a dance off. Clearly, homeboy in the fisherman's cap and Dockers lived through the '80s. And remembers a few moves.

Nintendo rocks!

This has been floating around for a while, but I finally found a functional copy of it. These are covers to rock songs done in the style of the Nintendo music and sound effects. I can't get enough of this stuff.

I posted one song in the SIMv4.o, but I just had to post the remainder of the songs. Yes, I even reproduced the track "Silence"--that's how much I care. Enjoy. **Bolt seems to be having some trouble loading. If you hit the "Stop" button on most browsers it will work fine**

Good news, bad news and Sunday J-Pop

Good news: Remember Tastes Like Chicken? Their website, Tastes Like Music, has been up since the end of April it looks like and there's some tunes there you haven't heard before.

Bad news: I'm putting Friday Night Videos on hiatus. I came to the realization this week that I've way over-committed myself and I've got to start cutting back since the stuff I really care about is slipping. Not that I don't care about you Shitheads or FNV, I enjoyed doing these. But they took a lot of time and I've got to start somewhere. Sorry gang.

Sunday J-Pop: OK, this really should be under good news too because I'm not actually going to inflict you with j-pop this week, but you get a real, live Japanese rock band instead. Here's The Pillows with Ride on Shooting Star from the Furi Kuri soundtrack. These guys are cooler than ninjas.

Sunday in the Mix v4.0

A mix of the serious and the silly. You decide which.
