Crustacean cruelty
Cartoon drawn by Carel Brest van Kempen of
Rigor Vitae fame. What can I say? There's no Peeps in it, but it made me smile anyway.
Resistance is futile
We will add your cucurbitaceaen and musky, ripe distinctiveness to our own. Your melons will adapt to service ours. Resistance is futile.

Bad alien!
I love me some "Space Invaders". Unfortunately, I only have the new version, from like 1998-9, but still. I heart Space Invaders.
Apparently, so do these people.
Ballad of Bruce Lee
Found this delicious little item over at
Dinosaur Gardens:
Robert Lee is the brother of martial artist Bruce Lee. Robert released this album, Robert Lee Singsā¦ The Ballad of Bruce Lee, in 1975 in dedication to his older brother, who had died in 1973.
Enjoy "The Ballad of Bruce Lee"
Don't you just hate it...
...when you come home and a naked man runs at your car and starts beating it with one of your pet pigeons?
Yeah, me too.
My favorite part of this little article? That a police spokesperson said the guy was "obviously having some sort of issues that night."
Y'think?
Anyway,
here's the rest of the story. As Paul Harvey likes to say.
Wait, is Paul Harvey still alive? Crap, now I have to check that...yup, still alive. This guy is at about the same level as Mr. Rogers to me...someone I grew up listening to that just makes me smile when I hear him. (Man, I had some weird parents)
All Your Base Are Belong to Us, Calvin
Yeah, yeah, so it's overused.
Still mildly amusing when transposed into other things.
Like classic Calvin and Hobbes.
Be warned, the annoying video game music plays in the background of this.

Just because
Ever accidentally trip over something and realize it's exactly what you were looking for in the first place? Well, this is nothing like that. But here it is anyway.
Tears For Fears. Sowing the Seeds of Love.

For politically minded Shitheads:
Bazooka Joe and his GANG meet political commentary (click image for link.)
This week:
Herman and Mort iron out the details of the National Security Surveillance Act....and, back to regular programming.
Another dirty secret.
I love Mash-Ups. I first got hooked while using LimeWire to download anything that my little heart desired.
I all ready loved cover songs, but this...two songs combined into one? Heaven! Well, as long as they mesh well.
Anyway, strolling through youtube and found this little gem. And, I'm posting it because A.) I like both songs, think it sounds well, and damn it, what do I think I'm doing justifying posting something? Jeez, I'm going to go smack myself...brb.
Okay, better now. But reason B.) is because a friend of mine and I were discussing Gwen Stefani earlier tonight. I hated No Doubt because of that damn "I'm Just A Girl" song. He liked them because Gwen has great legs. (Okay, he's not totally shallow, but is a guy.) And, even his dad agrees that Madonna has a great ass.
So, there you have it. Good music AND hot women. What could be better?

"Clouds in my coffee?"
God help me, I laughed at this clip. Not sure where this clip comes from, but it's a version of "You're So Vain" featuring The Odd Couple. Yes, Jack Klugman and Tony Randall! As awful as Klugman's singing is (and dear god is it horrible!), Randall's delivery is pitch perfect.
Upload music at

There is a post over at
The Poor Man that I thought the Shitheads might enjoy:
Your Final Exam in Eighties Canadian Song Lyrics
Must be a 'Dog Person'
Please, please, please name it Janus!
I can't believe no one's remarked upon this yet.
A kitten in Ohio was born with two faces. (Insert Barbra Streisand/pussy joke here) Which, while creepy, is still better than the cyclops kitty of a couple months ago. Two other kittens in the litter were born with just one face a piece, the poor ignored babies. You know they'll be in therapy in like 6 months, get knocked up as soon as they first come into heat, have litter after litter and die bitter and alone.
What's up with the influx of freak cats lately? Environmental factors? Random mutations? Too many people with too much time and too much access to the internet?
No, I think I'll go with my favorite explanation for everything.
Zombies.

Could it be? No! Yes, it is!
It is
The Hoff's birthday! And, no, I didn't know that (I do now, thanks to IMDB). He is 54 glorious years young today. Let's all wish Hoff many happy returns, and years of continued cheez production!

J-Pop Sunday
Hey gang, remember The Blue Hearts, the curiously upbeat punks from a few weeks back? This week we've got The High-Lows, the band that vocalist Hiroto Koumoto and guitarist Masatoshi Mashima went on to form after The Blue Hearts broke up. It's still that great 1950s influenced upbeat punk sound, and the energy and enthusiasm these guys put into their tunes still makes me smile (even if Hiroto's tongue seems to have a mind of its' own).
As a bonus, I've thrown in a tune with Masatoshi out in front. Sorry, I don't know what band he's playing with in that one. Also, there's the first opening theme from the wildly popular Detective Conan anime performed by The High-Lows.
Set List: Thunder Road, Sin and Punishment, Seishun, Soto Dena, Mon-shiro-tyou (Cabbage Butterfly!), Andalusia ni Akogarete (featuring Masatoshi Mashima on lead vocals), Mune no Doki Doki (Detective Conan 1st Opening Theme).
Sunday in the Mix v13.0
Me likes this week's
Mix!
It starts with a band we should all watch for called
Arms. "Shitty Little Disco" is the name of their EP. You can hear more songs at their
MySpace site. The next song by
Evangelicals reminds of something Syd Barrett might have composed (had he not gone mad...and died).
Follow The Train offers what might be my favorite song this week. I'm a sucker for the haunting stuff, what can I say. That's followed by two big and noisy delights;
Raydibaum and
Model Morning. The
Model Morning track is outstanding. I expect much from this band.
The
Hot Chip stuff has been out a while, but it's never too late to discover new stuff!
The Ladies song takes a bit, but it really grows on you.
Next comes a neat song from
Wilco drummer,
Glenn Kotche. A little shorter than our usual #8 entry, but this song packs an interesting punch. I'm not sure how I feel about the
oVo song. When I first heard it, I couldn't stop thinking about that song in
Revenge of the Nerds. You know the one..."Clap your hand everybody, and everybody clap your hands..." Sounds just like Lamar singing! It's like Lamar meets noise!
What can you say about "Aquarius"? Sure, a few artists and popular movies have taken liberties with this venerable classic, but when all is said it done, you can't get the harmonies out of your head.
If I can get it to work, I have a couple of bonus videos below!
