Bond Teaser

Okay, so you know I'm a huge James Bond fan (sorry if I shattered any illusions that I don't like cheezy things). The next film, though destined to be a commercial flop, looks very promising. Daniel Craig is a definite upgrade over Pierce Brosnan in the acting department, but it remains to be seen if he is Bond.

Now comes this French teaser trailer. It's pretty much limited to the Pre-Title Sequence and the recently filmed footage from Jamaica. It still makes me feel pretty good about the prospects of this being a quality film. Very noir feel to it, with the PTS even being in Black & White (Bond earns his 00 status). I will see this film in the theatres, which I rarely do for a Bond flick. Here is the teaser.

I like Bond.
And, though I wouldn't have picked him first for the role, I like Daniel Craig as well.
Bond movies tend to be the guilty pleasure we get to revel in when TNT or Spike has their Bond weeks, though I'll admit to owning a few.

Hmm... I was thinking Dr. Mark Craig (William Daniels) from St. Elsewhere. How's that for a brain fart? Daniel Craig gets confused with Mark Craig=William Daniels. Hell, the same words are in there, just in not quite the same order and one of the three people is fictional. Still, either Dr. Craig or William Daniels would be better than Daniel Craig who just isn't doing it for me.

I think Daniel Craig will be a great "Fleming" Bond, much the same as Dalton was (Dalton is my favorite Bond, btw). Also, like Dalton, his movies won't perform well at the box office. The dramatic juice left the Bond series about 35 years ago. How can you have drama when you know there will always be a sequel? You can't. So people have come to love the familiarity of the "Bond stuff"--gadgets, babes, deadpan quips, and low substance. Hell, I love all that stuff! I guess I'd just like to have a dramatic component added to the series, and Craig can do that. Plus, dude is ripped! Have you seen him lately? Damn!

If/when this movie fails, Daniel Craig could always be the next voice of KITT in Knight Rider!
