Friday Night Videos: The Sweet & Sour Edition

Man what I wouldn't give for some Chinese food right now. Unfortunately, the nearest Chinese place is about 15 miles away and they don't deliver. I guess we'll just to have to settle for some Sweet & Sour music videos instead! On the lineup this week we have some of the most treacly sweet music videos you're likely to ever encounter with a couple of tangy hard rockers thrown in just so you don't lapse into a diabetic coma. Enjoy!

No prob. I've been uploading tons of videos. I probably have enough right know to put together Friday Night Videos for a month. I'm going to attempt to do a theme each week, but who knows if that'll work out.

In any case, please do upload and tag anything that strikes you. You can see what I've got so far by searching on vSocial for the 'tngfnv' tag. I'm keeping set lists too so I'll tag anything I've used before with a date code, like this '20060414'.

I used to get email updates whenever you added a video. Either that expires after awhile, or I accidentally unsubscribed to your feed. Neither would surprise me.

You've picked a mighty good line up. The only one I don't think I've heard is The Sweet. And while I'm not the biggest AC/DC fan in the world, that's not a bad one.

p.s.-I love ABBA. I know, it's an affliction.

Somewhere around 1980/1981 I had awful taste in music (awful being defined as that which is not cool -- to 12-14 year olds). Back then I had a Best Of ABBA record I would play over and over and I fell in love with a good number of their recordings. Then the two Bs in ABBA, Benny Andersen and Bjorn Ulvaeus, went on to write my favorite musical/rock opera -- Chess. So liking ABBA is no black mark in my book.

Dude, I didn't know they wrote Chess!
My best friend from high school was an actress, and I got a love of musicals from her.

I tend to like that which not many others like.
Though, I did have a period in high school where I listened to The Smiths and The Doors almost exclusively.
And the RHPS soundtrack.

Madame, yeah, the two Bs from ABBA wrote the music for Chess and Tim Rice did the lyrics. AFAIK the show was never put on the way it was intended and so the best recording of it remains the 1983 concept album. The American version was just awful IMHO but I do understand that the revival in Toronto(?) a few years back was very good. If you don't have it, the 1983 concept album is a must.
