From Associated Press: Theater Pulls Trailer for 'United 93'

The AMC Loews Lincoln Square 12 theater in Manhattan said it made the decision after viewers complained they found it too upsetting.



"I don't think people are ready for this," theater manager Kevin Adjodha said.


Ok, I'm a crass, cold-hearted, unemotional cretin. So, upon reading the above, I immediately seeked out the trailer and watched it. You can do the same and view the trailer by clicking on this sentence.

I'll tell you, it actually was quite stirring. If it had been ten seconds longer I'd have been in tears.

I'm not saying it should be pulled, though.

Did the filmmakers have access to the cell phone recordings? I don't know much about this project, as I've been following the Oliver Stone movie more closely.

I just wondered about the phone recordings because without them this movie becomes a fictionalized account of events. I think that would be very damaging. Others might argue that fiction is safer than truth, but in this instance, anything less than the truth is disrespectful IMO. I know that Stone has worked closely with the two men on which his movie is based. While I'm sure everyone is expecting Stone to have an axe (or a conspiracy) to grind, all reports indicate a thoughtful, honest treatment of the day's events, as seen by these two particular men.

That is my deciding factor on whether or not to make a movie centered around 9/11; if you can't make a truthful, fact-driven movie about the events of that day, you should just keep your idea to yourself.
