Under the weather

What a thoroughly depressing day. I need something to cheer me up, how about you? How about a little 1970s jazz fusion? And considering the steel gray sky and torrential rain I think there can be only one choice here. That's right. A little Weather Report. Here's Jaco and the gang from a 1978 Rockpalast performance.

Holy shit! I have a couple of Jaco vids saved and ready for posting. Wow. I was shocked to see all the Jaco love on YouTube. What a talented bastard he was. So sad.

I've been moving through a period of really odd coincidences in my life where all my friends seem to be thinking of the same things all at once. Earlier this month everything was coming up mellotrons and today everything was coming up Jaco. Plus that whole Weather Report sound, name aside, just seemed to go with the day.

You know I just read about how he died on Wikipedia. I never knew that. You're right. So very tragic and the dude was only 36. And he's been gone almost 20 years now. As one of the commenters on YouTube said, it's great to see him with that big freaking grin plastered all over his face after all this time.
