I don't have the spoons to get a list of my top 100 albums together as others among us are doing... So here's a plain old list of eleven random songs.

  6. Baghdad -- Offspring -- Anti-American, anti-war-in-Iraq song with a reference to flag burning "our flags our burning, our flags are burning." This is why we need a constitutional amendment... -- +

  8. Soak the Sin -- Blind Melon -- Toward the end there's some really cool guitar work on this one. -- +

  11. I Bleed -- Pixies -- Not sure how popular this notion is, but the Pixies' Doolittle may just edge out Bossanova as my favorite Pixies album. It would make the top quarter of my top 100 albums. -- +

I'm happy to see this feature cross-posted here. It's the sort of thing that appeals to my deep desire to categorize and evaluate. Plus, you get to peek at someone's record collection!

I simply can't imagine created a Top 100 list. I did a Top 10 and it damn near killed me (and everyone else).

A top ten would kill me. At least with a top 100 there'd be less agonizing about what to omit. But I don't have time for a top 100. Maybe I'll draw together a list of my favorites, and the number will be however many I come up with...

I'll let you guys know how that works out. Heheh.

That's what I'd have to do-favorites. Because how can I compare equally brilliant songs that I loved at different times, for different reasons, and are totally different types of music?

Madame, exactly! For instance, how could I compare Paul Bley or Dave Brubeck to Asia or Def Leppard? Or different arrangements or performances of the same tune by equally brilliant performers? Arggh! It gives me a migraine and causes the vein above my right eye to pop out just thinking about it.

TNG-one site on my favorites is a list of all the cover versions of "Love Will Tear Us Apart." I love Jeff Buckley's version of "Hallelujah", but does that make it better than the original?
Yeah, okay, now my right eye is starting to ache...
