Funny, but sad...and funny again

Mental illness is no laughing matter. Let me just state this up front: I am not, nor will I ever condone ridiculing the mentally ill.

Was that really 'word salad'? Because this guy actually made sense to me. Now granted, he had a couple of ideas going through his head at once (his "rogue" helicopter pilot and something to do with a city arena that involved perceived corruption) and those two ideas were definitely getting mangled and mushed together, but within the context of his reality I could understand him.

I've heard word salad from people with strokes before and it was almost complete gibberish. Using the word 'banana' for the phrase 'cost overrun' for example. But I've never heard it with schizophrenics before (the schizophrenics I've known have all been of the suddenly violent sort, or the quiet, extremely eccentric kind).

I'm not calling BS on your statement... Like I said, I've had very little abnormal and no clinical psych... so I'm just curious.
