Sunday in the Mix v18.0

Some good stuff this week, including something from one of my favorite albums of the year so far. Good alt rockers and funky lounge stuff abound!

Alt rockers The Format, Asobi Seksu, and Rock Kills Kid (I like a band that knows how to build a good bridge!) start things off. For some reason, the album Citrus by Asobi Seksu hasn't exploded yet. In fact, judging by the reviews at Amazon, people are fairly mixed on its quality. No doubts here. I love it! I dig the lush, poppy arrangements and syncopated guitar noodling. And how can you not like a singer that sings in both English and Japanese? You might really dig this one, TNG (If you've already posted something about Asobi Seksu, please allow me to apologize). Last year's aggro outfit City Of God rounds out a boisterous top of The Mix.

Now we slip into something different.

Joan As A Police Woman is somehow soulful and playful at the same time. Shearwater and Longcut both start as slow rockers, but Shearwater sizzles to its conclusion, while Longcut erupts into chaos.

Senor Coconut and His Orchestra and Barry Adamson provide a one-two punch of pure lounge funkiness. Next comes another cut from the wonderful "Wild Wild World Of Mondo Movie Music." That leads to an oldie that isn't so old, Depeche Mode's "Never Let Me Down Again." Was just in the mood for some DM, I guess.

Hey, the Rapidshare monster link is back! Enjoy!

Comments:
Hmm. I've only been able to sample a few of these. Bolt seems to be having issues this afternoon. I'll have to come back to this though because what I have heard so far I like a lot.
