I was never able to get into these movies. They bored me to tears and fifteen minutes in I'd be fidgeting in my seat. Now Alien and Aliens (I'm trying to forget anything that came after) had me trembling in abject fear.

Not my favorite genre, either. In fact, I find the "modern" gore-fests (like "Saw" and "Hostel") to be very disconcerting in their glorification of torture and self-mutilation. Some of the older films (like "Black Christmas," "Suspiria," and the early Cronenberg stuff) are somewhat interesting to me, but I much prefer psychological thrillers.

I think the last film to really scare me was the great Japanese horror film, "Audition." Creepy, creepy shit. Of course, I'm planning on seeing "Jesus Camp" this weekend, which might prove even scarier!

I don't like gore for the sake of gore. Just watched "The Hills Have Eyes", and it just about bored me to tears.
I like suspense. SUSPENSE! There can be gore, sure, but there must be suspense.
I don't want to guess the end of the movie, or see the scary "thing" too much, whatever it may be.
Last one that REALLY freaked me out, so much so that I'm still not that great at watching them by myself, no matter what the time of day? "The Ring". Must be watched with "Ringu" as well, to get the complete story in there.
