Here today, gone tomorrow

Forgive me a brief moment of seriousness. Today Gootube removed all of the Comedy Central content which also included a ton of Daily Show excerpts. This after Ben Karlin, exec. producer for The Daily Show encouraged people to share and download The Daily show in a September 2005 interview. OK, Comedy Central owns The Daily Show and they need to vigorously defend their copyright or risk losing it to the public domain. I get that. I can't help but feel that Comedy Central and Gootube both devalued theirselves in doing this act. In fact, the phrase, "shooting yourself in the foot" comes to mind. Part of the amazing success of The Daily Show in the past few years has been easy access to clips on YouTube which have only furthered demand for the show. Morons. Via Slashdot.

Looks like it was just Daily Show, Daily Show and South Park. Apparently clips under 10 seconds qualify for fair use as I found a couple of those.

I wonder if they axed the Schoolhouse Rock clips? I'll have to check on that.
